(Teutschenthal, 05.04.2022) As of now, federal authorities and institutions can procure the Kobra VS data storages in a simplified way via the central purchasing platform "Kaufhaus des Bundes" (KdB). These are the external encrypted hard disks Kobra Drive VS and the encrypted USB sticks Kobra Stick VS, which are approved by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) for the storage, retention, transfer and secure transport of sensitive, personal and VS-classified information up to the classification level VS-NfD (classified information - for official use only), RESTRICTED UE/EU RESTRICTED and NATO RESTRICTED at authorities and companies.
Kobra VS Hard Disks and USB Sticks for Classified Information
Developed and manufactured in Germany, DIGITTRADE's mobile Kobra VS data storages are state of the art and enable DSGVO-, BDSG- and VSA-compliant handling of confidential information. A unique selling point of the data storages is the patented 2-factor authentication using smartcard and PIN. Since the key for encrypting and decrypting data is not located on the data carrier but on the smartcard, it is not possible to access the data without a corresponding smartcard. In addition to DIGITTRADE smartcards, PKI-based company, service and troop ID cards can also be used for authentication. In terms of confidentiality, all data stored on the Kobra VS is thus protected against unauthorized access in the event of loss or theft.
"Nowadays, the number of cyber-attacks on politics, public authorities and the economy continues to increase, according to BMI warnings. Among other things, these also endanger data in cloud storage and on company servers," emphasizes André Gimbut, Head of Product Development at DIGITTRADE GmbH, "Backups on external data carriers with a very high level of protection can contribute to geo-redundancy and thus protect users from total data loss in extreme situations."
