(Teutschenthal, 25.01. 2024) - The Kobra VS data storage devices are external encrypted USB-C hard drives Kobra Drive VS (SSD/HDD) and USB sticks Kobra Stick VS, which correspond to the current state of the art and offer GDPR, BDSG and VSA-compliant storage, storage, forwarding and secure transport of sensitive, personal and classified information up to the classification level VS-NfD (classified information - FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY), RESTREINT UE/EU RESTRICTED and NATO RESTRICTED.
The Kobra VS data carriers combine hardware-based real-time encryption according to AES with 256-bit in XTS mode with two-factor authentication using a smartcard and PIN entry via the data carrier's keypad. In addition, the crypto keys can be managed (created, changed and destroyed) by the user. In addition to DIGITTRADE smartcards, PKI-based works, service and troop ID cards can also be used for authentication. With regard to confidentiality, all stored data is thus protected against unauthorised access in the event of loss or theft.
These features ensure that sensitive data can be sent cost-effectively, e.g. by a parcel service or courier. The Kobra VS data storage device and the recipient's smartcard are sent separately. The user PIN is also sent separately and only after the recipient has received the KOBRA VS data storage device.
If the VS data storage device is lost, only a manageable amount of material damage is incurred in the form of the loss of the KOBRA VS data storage device. However, this is covered by the parcel service provider in the case of insured shipping. Users, on the other hand, can rest assured that unauthorised persons will not be able to access their sensitive data. This effectively and legally prevents potentially horrendous penalties, reports or damage due to data loss.
These data storage devices are very easy to use. To unlock them, the user inserts the smart card into the slot on the data storage device, enters their PIN and can access the data immediately.
For administrators, the manufacturer also provides the special Kobra Client VS management software free of charge. This enables fast and application-related recording and configuration of KOBRA VS data storage devices and smartcards.
KOBRA VS data storage devices are available from federal department stores as well as from distributors and system houses.
